Joy, a mother of a six-year-old girl called Angel, lives in Manila. Her husband Dante is a petty criminal and an abuser. He regularly comes home drunk late at night and brutally beats Joy up. When he directs his anger at little Angel one evening, Joy finally summons the courage to act. But she soon finds out that the judicial system in the Philippines moves at a snail's pace, and to get justice will be much harder than it originally seemed. And the longer the trial takes, the greater danger Joy faces.
