Student June Lee works in a call centre and his task is to call customers with outstanding bills. Every day, he is subjected to the mental and physical pressure of his ruthless supervisor and the cruel working environment focused solely on results. It is only a matter of time before the sensitive young man breaks down and it all ends in a tragedy. The film shows the critical situation on the Korean job market and the horrifying impacts of the record unemployment.
The South Korean director has made several auteur films. Her short Circle Line won the Best Short Film award at Cannes IFF, where she was also nominated for an Un Certain Regard award for her drama Madonna. Her films focus on social inequality and the gap between upper classes and social outcasts.
