Young Italian Ermanno comes from a poor family. Lena from Poland is seven months pregnant and has come to Italy to sell her child in an adoption scam. Ermanno must pretend to be the father of the yet-unborn girl named Sole, so that the adoptive family doesn't get suspicious. Their plan starts to crumble when Lena gives birth prematurely. While the new mother refuses to develop a relationship with the child, Ermanno starts taking care of the baby as if he was the real father.
The Italian director studied photography and started in film as an assistant cinematographer and then assistant director. His first short film Sofia competed at Torino IFF and other festivals. He was also successful with his second short First Timer which was nominated for the competition at Venice IFF. Sole is his feature debut.
