Vera leads an ordered life as the wife of a respected judge, and as a mother and caring grandmother. Her tranquil life is turned upside down by her husband’s suicide, followed by a sinister parade of men who claim they have the right to her village home and threaten to reveal her family secret. Fear forces Vera to take her family’s fate into her own hands. An intimate portrait of a woman who must face a bleak reality and stand up to deeply rooted gender stereotypes.
