Seventeen-year-old Julia got pregnant without planning it and now wants to have an abortion. She is helped by a 40-year-old architect who also runs a creative workshop for young people. The empathetic woman who is supposed to be a moral authority finds herself in a complicated position when the unhappy girl finds a friend and a substitute mother in her. The intimate film about the courage to step out of a prescribed role confronts the heroines and the audience with a situation with no easy way out.
The Costa Rican director and screenwriter completed her studies at the London Film School with Temporal (2006) which competed at several festivals. In 2010, she made her feature debut Cold Water of the Sea which was awarded in Rotterdam, where her new film Aurora was presented this year as well. Her previous intimate coming-of-age drama Viaje (2015) premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival.
