Esther, a translator, is recovering from a painful break-up when she receives a package without a return address. Inside she finds an anonymous diary written twenty years ago by a young woman overcoming a life crisis. Esther sees a resemblance to her own destiny in the mysterious text and, with the support of her best friend, sets out to find the author’s identity. The journey that takes her from France to picturesque Portugal becomes a journey back to herself.
After several short films, the French director made her debut in 2005 with the award-winning drama Burnt Out. Her documentary portrait of a criminal Ne me libérez pas je m'en chargé (2008) was screened at the Berlinale, while her previous film Our Wonderful Lives (2019) was screened, among other places, in Rotterdam. Her latest film premiered at the Arras Festival.
