Apart from producing the films made by his brother Alex, who is two years older, and also sometimes appearing in them as an actor, Marc van Warmerdam has helped to make Sergei Loznitsa’s films Donbass (2018) and A Gentle Creature (2017). For five years, he was the chairman of the Dutch Film Producers Association. He and his brother founded both a theatre company (Orkater) and a film company (Graniet Film). In addition, Marc opened a cinema in Amsterdam where Dutch films are screened. His other siblings also have artistic tendencies: his brother Vincent is a composer and guitarist, and his sisters Anne-Marie and Lisbeth are graphic artists.
