Each country has their fairy-tale hero, and it's Ash Lad in Norway. Similarly to the English Jack, Ash Lad is a poor boy who goes to see the world. Many obstacles await him, and maybe a princess and half a kingdom in the end. Director Mikkel Brænne Sandemose combined fantasy and Scandinavian mythology into a modern fairy-tale. In the Hall of the Mountain King is the first film of The Ash Lad trilogy.
