It is the 1930s. Young Emanuel suffers from bone tuberculosis and spends his days in a sanatorium by the Black Sea. In a place where dying is slow, he tells his story of finding love, and of the tragi-comic moments in his fellow patients' lives. The adaptation of Max Blecher's eponymous novel is a poetic, melancholic, intimate opus directed by the acclaimed Radu Jude (Aferim!).
