This Taiwanese contemplative film by director Tsai Ming-liang offers a fascinating experiment with a human face. After his previous film made in 3D, the well-known filmmaker goes in the opposite direction, to a simple detail of a human face, further deepening his interest in film minimalism. The arresting static shots of faces of thirteen men and women are accompanied by Ryuichi Sakamoto's music, showing that beauty lies in simplicity.
