Janet invites a group of her closest friends to her home to celebrate her latest work achievements together, but her husband Bill suffers from severe depression and the guests bring their own, often very surprising, problems. The film's director and scriptwriter, Sally Potter, focuses her satirical conversation comedy on the hypocrisy of the British upper classes.
