Eighteen-year-old Gemma grows up in southern Scotland, in a small town which still hasn't recovered after the local steelworks closed down. The miserable life prognosis can be summed up in two options: either get knocked up, or locked up. She lives with her grandpa Joseph, a boxing coach whom she helps look after his pigeons, until she discovers that her friend Pat got her pregnant. This sensitive portrait of finding one's place in the world won two awards at Tribeca festival.

Ellen Fiske, Ellinor Hallin

Director Ellen Fiske proved her sensitive approach to social issues already with her shorts Keep Me Safe (2014) and Lone Dads (2016) in which single fathers must prove they're able to take care of their children. / Director and cinematographer of Swedish origin Ellinor Hallin draws from the documentary environment in her work. Her cinematography earned her a nomination for the Swedish Guldbagge award for In i Dimman (2018).
