The latest film by Emir Kusturica, two time Palme d'Or winner, in which he plays the male lead, Kosta, a Serbian who transports milk across the front line on his donkey during a war and falls in love with a beautiful Italian (Monica Bellucci). Their forbidden love, in the middle of a war, brings them numerous unexpected and dangerous adventures. The film brims with energy, humor and romantic melancholy, and was a winner at the Venice IFF.
