Lauri was shot under uncertain circumstances. He falls into a coma and must rely on his mother's care. We observe the visits of friends, policemen, and his pupils parading by his bed. The individual stories gradually assemble the possible motives for this incomprehensible crime in a close-knit small-town community where everybody knows everything about the others. The darkly comedic, brilliantly composed Nordic noir was Estonia's candidate for the Oscars.
