The Ear

In connection with her receipt of Febiofest’s Kristián award for outstanding artistic contribution to cinema, actress Jiřina Bohdalová will introduce director Karel Kachyňa’s intimate psychological drama The Ear at the festival. The 1970 picture, which explores the influence of the secret police on people’s lives and drips with dread, unease and despair, was banned by the Communists and first reached cinemas after the Velvet Revolution in June 1990. The popular Czech actress stars as the wife of deputy minister Ludvík, played by Radek Brzobohatý.

Jiřina Bohdalová will appear at the gala opening of Febiofest on Thursday 21 March at 18:30 at Prague’s Municipal House and on Sunday 24 March at 16:00 at the plaza at CineStar Anděl. After meeting fans she will present a screening of The Ear at 16:30.
