This very personal portrait of Arnaud Desplechin's family was created against the backdrop of a family house sale. It shows the individual family members, including the director himself, and their entangled relationships. It also reveals Desplechin's inspiration for his subsequent live-action film, A Christmas Tale. The Beloved remains Arnaud Desplechin's only documentary film, and we are presenting it for the first time in the Czech Republic.
