Elias from Morocco’s Tazzeka valley is growing up with just his grandmother, who teaches him the secrets of the local cuisine. Years later, he sets off for Paris to fulfil his dream of becoming a master chef. Instead, he becomes an illegal immigrant. Can he revive his love of cooking under such circumstances? The directorial debut of Jean-Philippe Gaud, a graduate of France’s La Fémis, is infused with the aromas, colours and flavours of Morocco.
