Sasha is in her forties and as a divorced mother and sex worker, she does not have huge expectations from life. She doesn't believe in love at first sight anymore, especially not in love at first sight in the corridor of a sex club which was just joined by the young and irresistibly confident Maria. It is bliss to fall in love, just like that, in a cheap Berlin bistro over a thin book of poems. But what to do so that the bliss is permanent and thrives even in a place where the female body is just a commercial commodity? An authentic German romantic drama from this year’s Berlinale.
The German director, screenwriter, editor and producer graduated in sociology, film production and directing from leading German universities. She appealed to the festival audience already with her début Jibril (2018). The same all-female team is behind her second film Bliss, and Kull has proven that the female perspective and marginalised themes are strong pillars of her work.
