There is only one thing missing in Benjamin and Aude’s loving relationship – the child Aude longs for but cannot have. Benjamin decides to fulfil the dream of having a family instead of Aude. His motherhood becomes not only a test of the relationship, but also a thorn in the side of the family and neighbours who are used to having everything pigeonholed, just like the flowerbeds outside the windows of their houses. The intimate drama works precisely with the sensitive theme of trans* parenthood, embodied also by the outstanding performances of Noémie Merlant and singer and actress Soko.
The French director, screenwriter and producer is internationally acclaimed for her drama Heaven Will Wait (2016) about the radicalisation of teenage children. The film was nominated for both the Lumiére and César awards. Her new film A Good Man was accepted into the Cannes IFF 2020 programme. This is the director’s fourth collaboration with actress Noémie Merlant (known from the romance Portrait of a Lady on Fire).
