A French friend came to visit Cristi in Bucharest. After several days of freedom and romance, Cristi, a Romanian policeman, is called to intervene in a cinema where right-wing radicals have attacked a group of queer people. The police are clearly not on the side of the assaulted, and Cristi is faced with the choice of denying his self or helping friends who recognize him. The psychological drama addresses the pressing issues of the individual’s inner homophobia and the growing intolerance and aggression in society.

Eugen Jebeleanu

The Romanian theatre and film director was born in 1989 in Timisoara. After graduating from the National Theatre and Film Academy, he devoted himself mainly to acting. His masterful feature debut, Poppy Fields, was screened at a number of major queer film festivals such as the San Francisco IFF, the BFI Flare: London, and the Serbian QFF Merlinka, to name just a few. This summer he won the Directing and Audience Awards at the Transilvania IFF.
