In a remote town in the sweltering American South, an endurance competition is held every year. The goal is for each participant to hold on to their dream car for as long as possible. Their motivations can vary, as can the backgrounds from which the contestants come. However, all of them are driven forward by the vision of a brighter future and the life security that winning symbolizes for many. As the days progress and the weather turns harsh, the contestants discover just how high a price they are willing to pay to win and how strong the human will can be.
Living in turns in his native country and Austin, Texas, the German native first attracted attention with his short film End of a Trip (2005) for which he received the German First Steps Award for emerging talent. He also found success with Houston (2013), shown at Sundance. His third feature film, One of These Days, premiered at last year’s Berlinale.
