John, a single parent who makes his living as a window cleaner has dedicated his life to his beloved son Michael whose mother left him right after the birth. Their life might be simple but is filled with love and a feeling of family togetherness. But John has only a few months left to live and no relatives he might turn to. So he decides to spend the last moments of his life searching for an ideal future family for his four-year-old son. This film starring James Norton is capable of moving the audience despite its lack of clichés and corny sentiment.
This native of Rome has cinematography in his blood as he is Luchino Visconti’s nephew. However, his journey to film was quite long, first he was a banker in England, then he worked in marketing and production departments in Hollywood. As a producer he is signed under the blockbuster The Full Monty (1997). Nowhere Special is his third directorial work and just like his previous films, this one also premiered at the Venice film festival.
