Monte Gelato Falls are located just outside Rome, and Italian filmmakers have shot hundreds of films here. Director Davide Rapp selected 180 of them, found shots of the waterfalls, and edited them on top of each other in a 360° video format. The result is an original collage in which the waterfalls remain in place – only the action around them changes – from an alien invasion to erotic scenes that appear and disappear like the immortal ghosts of the place.
He began his career not in filmmaking but as an architect. He first made a name for himself with his architectural video study, in which he used 500 different film clips layered on top of each other. He then used this method in his VR essay Montegelato.
