Good-hearted Nikola is about to take full responsibility for his two children after their mother has a nervous breakdown. Since he has been unemployed for a long time, though, the committee does not consider him to be competent and wants to place the children with foster parents. Extremely agitated Nikola decides to seek help from the ministry in Belgrade. The atypical road-movie tells a story about the power of parental love and empathy, and conveys a powerful, critical message about contemporary Serbian society.
The graduate of the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade made his feature film début with Absolute Hundred (2001) which won awards at several international festivals. His other films The Trap (2007) and the Sundance award-winning drama Circles (2013) have also attracted attention. His most recent film Father premièred at the Berlin IFF in the Panorama section where it won the Audience Award and the Ecumenical Jury Prize.
