The owner of an industrial scale manufacturer is expecting an inspection committee. He therefore attempts to resolve problems with his employees before the committee’s arrival. In doing so, he crosses every conceivable boundary. This poignant tragicomedy tells the tale of fractured professional and private relationships. What will prevail in the end? The interests of the company owner or the contentment of his employees? Javier Bardem takes the starring role in this award-winning film.
The Spanish director and screenwriter made his mark on the international scene with the neo-realistic drama Mondays in the Sun (2002), also starring Javier Bardem, about a group of former shipyard employees. His interest in social issues makes an indelible mark on his black comedy The Good Boss, which triumphed at this year's Goya awards and enjoyed success at numerous festivals from San Sebastian to Palm Springs.
