Peter Trepper, a young man in prison for an impulsive murder, tells a therapist about his life and motive for the act. He returns to his loveless childhood and the attempts to awaken warmth in his cold parents. Although Rainer Werner Fassbinder's rare television film is inspired by real interviews with convicts, it is considered one of his most personal pictures, bordering on autobiography. The film will be screened from a newly restored digital copy.
