It's Germany, just after the end of WWI. Anna visits the grave of her fiancé, Frantz, every day, and she lives with his parents. Together, they mourn the loss of their only son and love. Then a mysterious young Frenchman, Adrien, comes to the little town and his presence stirs powerful emotions. The mostly-black-and-white historical drama is an unusual remake of Ernst Lubitsch's lesser known anti-war picture from 1932, Broken Lullaby.
