Woodgirls – A Duet for a Dream

This Iranian documentary follows two female carpenters who are among the very first in Iran. Leila Avakh and Sedigheh Momennia defy all odds as they embark on an unusual path towards fulfilling their dream of running their own carpentry business. Woodgirls – A Duet for a Dream was awarded at the Rome Independent Film Festival and the CICFF festival in Calcutta.

Vera Dreams of the Sea

Vera lives an orderly life as the wife of a renowned judge, a mother and a caring grandmother. However, her quiet life falls apart with her husband's suicide followed by a daunting throng of men who claim they are entitled to their country house and are threatening to expose Vera's family secrets. Fear forces Vera to take the fate of her family into her own hands. Kaltrina Krasniqi's directorial debut premiered in the Orizzonti section at the Venice festival and won the best debut award at the Göteborg festival. The Prague IFF presents Vera Dreams of the Sea in the main competition with the personal attendance of its director Kaltrina Krasniqi.

The Line

After one of many violent fights, the mother – a former pianist who has never quite grown up – ends up in the hospital and the court bans her eldest and most aggressive daughter Margaret from coming withing 100 yards of her family's home. The youngest daughter, who is the most troubled by the situation, draws a line on the street 100 yards from the house and regularly meets her sister there. Will a family of temperamental women be able to find peace and love for each other again? The Line competed at this year's Berlinale. The screening at the Prague IFF will be attended by the film's lead actress Stéphanie Blanchoud.

The Colour Room

Young Clarice Cliff works at a ceramic factory where she intends to realize her own ideas even though in the 1920s, the role of women in the English society remains rather Victorian. A feminist drama based on a real character. At the Prague IFF, the film is accompanied by producers Thembisa Cochrane and Georgie Paget.
