28th PRAGUE IFF – FEBIOFEST: DAY 4

The global preview of new Czech-Slovak co-produced film Kryštof marked another key event on the 28th Prague IFF – Febiofest programme. After the press conference at noon, a proper premiere with all the trimmings followed: a red carpet walk, and a full delegation of filmmakers, including director Zdeněk Jiráský, producers Marián Urban and Olga Raitoralová, actors Mikuláš Bukovjan, David Uzsák, and Stanislav Majer, who came to introduce the film.

Other screening halls at the Cinema City Slovanský dům were no less busy, of course. Producer Guy Heeley introduced the new TV film Together, Estonian film director Lauri Randla presented his film Goodbye Soviet Union! (Comedy Competition), while Gary Lennon came to present the documentary Castro’s Spies (Docs section), which he co-directed. Norwegian cinematographer Sturla Brandth Grøvlen, who has his own programme section at this year’s Febiofest, as well as a masterclass (which took place on 21 September, Edison Filmhub), came to Edison Filmhub on Monday to attend the screening of Heartstone, a film which won the Queer Lion in Venice, among other awards. French filmmaker Marie-Castille Mention-Schaar brought her latest feature A Good Man, which was screened at Kino Pilotu.

The Amnesty International Febiofest Award 2021 jury met on Monday morning to decide on this year’s winner – the winning film will be announced during the closing ceremony on Thursday 23 September. Some of the festival guests then took the opportunity to see Prague through the eyes of an unconventional tour guide.
