This portrait of a “poete maudit” named Rafal Wojaczek is not a typical biographical film, rather an experimental insight into the psyche of a brilliant artist. The film shows the last period in his life, ending with a tragic death. Wojaczek's myth is full of scandals and tall tales that compose the image of his complicated personality. The raw black-and-white film perfectly reflects the oppressive atmosphere of communist Poland in 1960.
