This historical drama follows the journey of a little orphan and a young nurse who don't know the truth about their origin. On the way from Rome to Venice and from London to Paris, their every step is followed by an Italian cardinal. The unusual duo gradually reveals dark intrigues originating in the Vatican and Versailles. This costume romance is intentionally made in a very traditional style, sometimes even bordering on hyper-realism.
