An elderly Stalin (G.Dépardieu) arrives at a summer residence to relax with his mistress Lidie (E. Seigner). There's a couch in his study, resembling Freud's famous divan, so he suggests a psychoanalytic game to Lidie. Danilov, a young artist commissioned to create the dictator's monument, is also awaiting Stalin's arrival and a dangerous love triangle begins to blossom among the trio. The historical drama is directed by actress Fanny Ardant.
