This comedy drama about an improbable friendship intertwines the lives of the ageing professor Rypar and Song, a young man from Vietnam. Song hopes to find a better life in Europe, but instead ends up as cheap labour in a marijuana grow house. During a police raid, he manages to escape and hides on the roof of a condo building. And that is where he's discovered by the lonely old man who lives in the past and the present irritates him. Will they be able to help each other?
One of today's most frequently cast Czech young actors, having gained fame with his first film Snowboarders (2004). He won a Crystal Globe for the Best Actor at Karlovy Vary IFF for his role in Night Owls (2008), making him the youngest winner. His directing debut To See the Sea (2014) gained him a Czech Film Critics Award for the Discovery of the Year. His next film On the Roof was nominated for several Czech Lions.
