In an ideal world, Lieutenant Tomas Kozak would spend his mornings with his family at home. But the early democratic Czech Republic is far from ideal. Kozak has recently transferred to the homicide department where the detectives are in close contact with the world of organised crime. And Tomas will have to delve deep into it already during his first investigation of a violent death. Based on real events from the Czech underworld, the story is complemented by archive footage.
The Slovak director, producer and actor has attracted the attention with his work for cinema and Czech Television. His crime drama The Line (2017) won the directing award at the Karlovy Vary IFF, while his miniseries Justice (2017) and Actor (2020) were awarded the Czech Lion. Nineties is his latest project for Czech Television.
