Marvin returns to the small American town where he grew up after spending seventeen years in prison for murder. Although in terms of the law he has paid his debt to society, his victim's family remains unable to forgive him. To make things more complicated, his mother's health is deteriorating. But Marvin does not give up hope; forgiveness and redemption can come from the least expected places. Kathy Bates excels as the ailing mother in this moving drama.

German-born Potente first achieved fame as an actor, particularly in the 1998 hit film Run Lola Run and as Marie in the Jason Bourne thriller series. Home, a Germany-France-Netherlands co-production shot in the USA, is her feature debut as a writer-director. The cast features her husband Derek Richardson.
