Teenagers Nikolaï and Camille leave the institution they grew up in together. They make their home in the depths of the forest, where they become not only adults, but also parents. They both carry their scars and over time find closeness with one another. But the truth about the child's father will test this. This atmospheric film about finding one's own self outside the boundaries of society is also a sensitive statement about the value of trust and love.
The Belgian director and screenwriter has made several short films. Dark Heart of the Forest is his feature debut. It premiered at the film festival in Brussels. His earlier short film, La faveur des moineaux (2013) about a duel between two brothers during a family hunt, won the Golden Gate Award at the San Francisco IFF.
