After the death of her mother, the shy and clumsy Suzu has lost interest in her unique talent – singing. When one day she enters the virtual world of “U”, she begins to live her life anew. Mamoru Hosoda

Japanese director of award-winning anime films including The Boy and the Beats (2015) and Mirai (2018), for which he was nominated for an Academy Award. Hosoda is the co-founder of Chizu Studio, where he has full authorial freedom to pursue themes that appeal to him and the countless fans of his rich animation. His new film Belle premiered in the new Cannes Premiere section.
