We know the anti-hero of Abel Ferrara's cult neo-noir only as the Lieutenant (Harvey Keitel). However, we get deep under the skin of the personal hell that the corrupt, drunk, dope-addicted and violent policeman experiences in New York while investigating the case of a raped nun. The uncompromising picture was partly shot in guerilla style in real locations and rated "adults only" for its explicit scenes.
