When four teachers in mid-life crisis decide to try a sociological experiment according to a Norwegian philosopher, they hardly know where regular daily alcohol consumption can lead them. Glasses of wine and pints of beer force the group of friends to look into their own souls and rethink their existence. Thomas Vinterberg’s new work is both a kinetic celebration of everyday pleasures and a lively film about the crisis of masculinity, with precise cinematography by Sturla Brandth Grøvlen.
Together with Lars von Trier, he founded the influential Dogme 95 movement, promoting films in their raw original form. His second film, The Celebration (1998), was a hit at the Cannes Film Festival, and Vinterberg has since become one of Denmark's most acclaimed and awarded filmmakers. His new film, Another Round, won an Oscar, a BAFTA, a César, four European Film Awards and two awards at the San Sebastian Film Festival.
